Foursquare is a location-based social application. Users check-in at locations in order to earn points and unlock badges. Depending on a person’s settings, check-ins are announced to friends, Twitter, and Facebook.

People can also leave tips for locations. For example, “Try the cranberry spice muffin at Serious Coffee! They’re moist, delicious, and the perfect size!” Foursquare will share tips with other users when they check-in.

The user that has the most check-ins becomes the mayor of that location!
